Hi-yas,
The second of my KK pumps has died, and I was wondering if anyone had tips on repairing them.
Both pumps failed in the same manner. One day working 100% fine, next time I went to use it and it just doesn't turn on.
No clicks, hum, smoke or FFzzT! Just nothing.
I checked all the obvious things, like debris in the impeller, etc. etc.
And I've also replaced the starting capacitor (which is what always goes in the house pump). But this did not prove fruitful.
I haven't taken it fully apart, but that's obviously the next step.
Anyone done a tear-down?

aussiecraftbrewing.com.au/thread/98/seized-kk-mk-ii-pump?page=1Is it possible to pull apart? Yes. Will it go back together? Maybe, if you are more carfeul than I was. My issue was some liquid had leaked into the housing and down into the bearings, which siezed up. Everything else worked fine. However in getting to that stage, I'd bent the shaft too much and it never really went back together. Good luck.

I've lost 2 so far with the impeller swelling up so it can't rotate freely, I think it's just a crap design where the magnet in the rotor is not fully encapsulated. You can buy a keg king/land one for $50 or a march pump.

Yep and bang for buck where are you, the one I attempted to repair was still going just noisy barrings and the soft shaft bent when trying to replace. So the 2 I currently have I will run until they literally die and I can replace them cheaply and swap in the SS heads I already have. Note these 2 pumps have been used for the past 2 years at Vic swap so to date have moved thousands of liters between them without a hitch. I note blichmann have their rip tide coming from Cheeky peak in the next few weeks but again the price is up toward $350 and that's equivalent to having bought 7 of these and on my current record the blichmann lasting 14 years. That said yeah I like the look of the blichmann and the features it comes with but not in the budget this year.
