So recently replaced a pressure relief valve ... this thing here
Since it had split/broken on one of my kegs.
All good, suppliers had them in stock happy days.
But when changing around gas lines I unhooked one of my kegs for maybe half a day, and had reconnected it to the gas, with gas coming rushing in, I thought not much of it personally.
That was a month or so ago.
So after doing the dish washing liquid check around the keg itself, bubbles start coming out of the air holes around the pressure relieve value in the lid.
The culprit was that these things aren't actually universal it seems.
Hopefully the picture is clear enough.
Basically the one on the right, the actual hole that the end of the metal part of the pressure relief valve goes through is too small, and didn't allow the rubber seal to connect and create an air tight seal on it.
So after a keg of Co2 gone, hopefully someone else finds this useful or helpful
I think Kegland do a universal type with selectable pressure ratings too. Benefit is the seal is an o-ring and can be replaced. I check them for cleanliness every batch or so being filled and use lube, have not had a leak via one of those that was not immediately noticeable.
Kegs: T1 DIPA (Chilled), T2 Altbier, T3 DIPA (No Chilled), T4 LCBA Fermenting: La Sirene yeast starter Cubed/Planned: Urban Pale Ale, Hoppy Lager, Teninch Dampfbier, Old Melb Ale, Hightail Ale, APA
Aren't all the seals an oring? isn't that how these things work? Basically I had pretty much exactly what you have there and it fits 5/6 of my keg lids perfectly fine, just this other one where the actual hole for the metal part to go through is like 1mm or 0.5mm smaller so the metal part doesn't go through.
hophead: Just chuck up a couple of pictures. There 1/4 bsb thread. I do have the other style prv that have the female thread
