Hey guys, are there any brewery cleaners that can be stored long-term as a pre-mixed solution in a pressurised (CO2) keg? Mostly this would be used at ambient or fridge temps for cleaning beer lines and associated fittings, I tend to rush and avoid cleaning things like jumper leads properly after I use them and then decide it's easier to throw the line and start again rather than clean out festy beer at a later date. I assume that sodium perc would lose its effectiveness over time, and I believe that caustic reacts with CO2 - is that right (would prefer not to use caustic regardless)? What other options are there, if any?
I have 2l PET soft drink bottles with carb caps for both Sodium Perc solution and sanitizer solution. Easy to pressurize them to run through lines, or squeeze them to push the solution through. Being 2lt means it wont be kept for too long a period before mixing some fresh solution. Also you can clearly see the solution too. I kept a corny key just for perc but its heavy and cumbersome etc so the bottles are the best scenario I find.
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Same as DCB, but I only make a litre or however much I need to do the job of flushing lines, but I only have a few. I use percarbonate in most cleaning solutions(including pbw) and it quickly loses its effectiveness, so won't store well in solution or conditions exposed to moist air. If you have many/long lines to clean then a mini keg might be worth your while, but even then 2-3L plastic bottles are cheap.
Edit--though there are commercial liquid line cleaners one can buy.
This is interesting as I have typically only 'stored' PBW (homemade perc/met mix) in cubes that have been cleaned, until I find time to hot rinse them and add 500mL of starsan for long term ready to go storage.
Now might be worth another thread but sanitizers, Starsan seems OK for long term storage, however due to having a keg cleaner I now also have Saniclean (low foaming version of starsan) which does not appear to store well at all. The last couple of cubes I opened had jelly like floaties in it, almost like sea monkeys except they were not live creatures. Anyone know what's going on there and whether it is still useable? I always strain my sanitizer from stored cubes into whatever I am pouring it into and the saniclean collected about a half handful of clear jelly like substance in the strainer.... sorry forgot to take a photo.

Once dissolved, percarbonate is not stable.
This paper indicates around 10% degradation of peroxide in 2 hours at a pH above 11 (typical of a carbonate solution at normal concentrations). Assuming normal exponential kinetics for the degradation process, this is a half life around 13 hours so you'd have around 25% activity after a day.
The above would have been in laboratory conditions, certain contaminants (especially metal ions) will greatly accelerate the degradation. The presence of even minute amounts of organic soil will accelerate it even further: throw some perc solution on a drop of blood and watch what happens: the blood will catalyse the breakdown of the peroxide in seconds due to the presence of an enzyme called catalase, which exists to protect cells from peroxide.

DCB: Another realization of good home brewing beer being the best you can get because its to your own personal design. I am now learning how to appreciate Mead. It just takes longer and far more expensive to make on the ingredient level but. Simple is best pure
