Thanks gents. I’ll give Brewfather a go, but I’m not one for change so may end up staying with Beersmith. Shall see.

How is Brewfathers water estimates? As mentioned in other threads BeerSmith seems to over predict mash pH dropping and recently I’ve found similar with FG predictions so have disabled to adjustment based on mash temp and it appears to be more accurate, regardless of my actual mash temp, wtf?!

Had a look at brewfather and not real impressed. Too much data to put in before coming up with a recipe (very basic grain types and I don't feel like coming up with the stats on my grain at the drop of a hat). At least with wort or beermate, the basics are in place and the tweaking is minimal.
I will say though, that it appears as though brewfather is quite customisable. I just thought that with another 'web-based one' coming on, that there would be something different or more streamlined. Something to say "this is what we give extra". But no.
And no no-chill support.

I was annoyed about this as well. The work around is to add 0.01g of hops as a hopstand for the length you want as no chill.

Also, I think their malt selection might have got a lot better.

I tried it over the weekend, as i wanted some quick figures out. Getting the thing signed in and base malts in took longer than needed, so I chucked it into wort.

The main reason I'm using it is because it controls my Smartpid over the net. Works a treat. It's being updated all the time and has excellent tech support via FB but agreed it has a wsy to go in some aspects, like ingredients. Never heard of Wort.

I’ve found a lot of BS3 grain stats to be off anyway so needed reviewing and tweaking

My pH normally finishes a touch high compared to what Brewfather predicts (it it predicts 5.3, I'll have 5.45 or so, for example). Everything else was always pretty much spot on while I had my old Robobrew 35L rig. I'm still dialing in the numbers on my Brewzilla 65, but last brew was within 2 points of the expected OG. My boil off rates were a little bit out - hopefully next brew will be bang on.

So I've been playing with Brewfather a little and not convinced I should change yet as I really don't have a need. That is not to say it won't happen in the future.
Anyway back to Beersmith 3, I've noticed that commentary early on around the integrated water additions were positive, however now it appears a few have mentioned negative results in various threads. Can anyone elaborate a bit more on this?
Edit: To give some context, I use BS2 (as mentioned previously) in conjunction with Bru'n Water to sort out ph & additions. Happy to continue this way but was looking at BS3 to consolidate.

If planning to consolidate for water, forget BS. BS2 didn’t really get much extra when moving to BS3 other than an erroneous water tab.
Stick to BS2+Bru’n water or jump to BF is my 2c

Bit the bullet and downloaded the BS3 trial version late yesterday and spent a bit of time playing around. Have to agree that it’s not worth the upgrade. Think I’ll save my US$14.99 and continue with BS2 and Bru’n
